The Essay:
This year's scholarship essay will be based on the February 2014 debate between Ken Ham and Bill Nye entitledIs Creation a Viable Means of Origin? Students planning to apply for this scholarship may download the free copy of the transcript here or watch the replay here. After reviewing the debate, students are invited to write a detailed response to the event which meets the following criteria:
  • THE TOPIC: What was your perception of the debate, and its purpose and necessity in a world dominated by secular philosophies?
  • Include a brief introduction, several points addressing specific discussions from the transcript/video, your own personal evaluation of the primary issue, and a conclusion.
  • Essays should be 2 to 5 pages in length, 12 point Times Roman (or similar) font, double spaced.
The essay will be judged on creativity, clarity of thought, accuracy, research, grammar, and spelling. The student's essay will be the property of Master Books and may be used for promotion purposes in the future. The student winner and his/her parent or guardian will be notified by email of their winning status and then must submit a written or emailed acceptance of the scholarship award no later than June 1, 2015.
